James McAvoy’s 2016 film, Split, took everyone by surprise by actually turning out to be a sequel to the 2000 hit film Unbreakable leading to M Night Shyamalan’s final film Glass.

Unbreakable saw Bruce Willis’ character, David Dunn, survive a train crash without injury which sparked a friendship with Samuel L. Jackson’s Elijah Price who believed David had supernatural powers. However, it was revealed that Price had made the train crash happen as well as orchestrating other disasters.

In 2016, the thriller Split came to our screens, showcasing James McAvoy’s incredible talent as he played Kevin Crumb, a man with 24 personalities. Kevin took three young girls as hostage as sacrifices for his 24th personality; The Beast.

The ending of Split surprised everyone when The Beast took over Kevin and was let loose, bringing about a cameo from Bruce Willis as David Dunn who has to ultimately take The Beast down.

Entertainment Weekly has had fans questioning the storyline of Glass after the first official images of Kevin, Elijah and David have been released online. The threesome look like they have been institutionalized into the same facility which is an unconventional twist for the characters.

Sarah Paulson is joining the cast for the first time as a psychiatrist in the facility who is hoping to help the trio.

“She deals with people that think they’re comic book characters. It’s kind of the modern-day equivalent of ‘I think I’m Jesus’ or ‘I’m an emperor.’” Shyamalan explained.

Also returning for another Shyamalan film is Anya Taylor-Joy, who played Casey in Split, after escaping from The Beast’s clutches. Fans are speculating as to whether she could be back to save Kevin once again… or actually turn out to be a hallucination in Kevin’s mind.

Another idea is that she could possibly need help in healing from the psychological trauma Kevin/The Beast made her go through. This could be the reason why they come face-to-face once again in the facility. But who knows?

The guesses keep coming and the excitement is definitely heating up in the fanbase. The official pictures look very interesting and, as we all know, a Shyamalan film always has countless surprises.

Glass comes to the big screen on January 18, 2019.
