The Ghanaian born, American Music Executive, Bozoma Saint John, has left Apple Music for a top executive role at Uber.

The taxi service has announced Saint John as its new Chief Branding Officer, acquiring her from Apple.

Uber made the announcement Tuesday.

Saint John is a prominent name in the US music industry – she headed Pepsi’s Music and Entertainment Marketing division, before being poached by Beats by Dre – which later became subsumed into Apple after the larger company acquired it in a multi million dollar deal.

During her time at Apple, Saint John worked on Apple Music ads involving Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington and Taraji P. Henson. She’s expected to bring a fresh new approach to Uber at a time the company is reeling from multiple s*xual assault scandals.

Saint John was born in Ghana, but emigrated to the US at 14. She’s also lived in other African countries including Kenya.

The 40 year old came to the limelight last year during her presentation of the redesigned Apple Music at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. One particular moment showing her nodding in tune to some music onstage during the presentation garnered her global attention.
