UPDATE: Hamlin and Rinna apologized for their costumes via an Instagram post on Monday, Nov. 2. Rinna shared a photo of the words “I’m sorry,” adding in the caption: “If I hurt you…we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”

This costume might haunt Harry Hamlin for a while. The actor, 64, sparked outrage with his Halloween costume on Friday, Oct. 30, when he hit the town as the Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious — complete with a swastika T-shirt.
Hamlin and his wife, Lisa Rinna, dressed up as the late rocker and his murdered girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, for George Clooney‘s Casamigos Halloween bash in Beverly Hills. In addition to the red and black swastika shirt, the L.A. Law star wore black jeans and a black leather jacket, plus Vicious’ trademark padlock choker.
Rinna, meanwhile, looked the part of Nancy in a blonde wig, shiny black jeans, a semi-sheer black tank, and a leopard-print bra. The soap actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 52, also piled on the makeup — glossy red lipstick, green eyeshadow, and pink blush.
After photos of their costumes surfaced online over the weekend, critics took to Twitter to slam the actor for his “offensive” and “ignorant” costume. Some demanded an apology, but Hamlin has yet to respond via social media.
Vicious (born John Simon Ritchie) wore the controversial swastika shirt back in 1978, during the Sex Pistols’ mockumentary, The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle. According to the UK’s Telegraph, it was designed by the punk group’s former manager Malcolm McLaren. In 2010, the shirt was put up for sale by a private vendor. The Telegraph reports it was valued at 10,000 pounds.

Vicious died of a heroin overdose at age 21 in 1979, just a few months after Spungen was stabbed to death in their room at the Hotel Chelsea in New York City. He was arrested on suspicion of murder, but died before the case went to trial.
Hamlin, for his part, sent a much friendlier message on Sunday, Nov. 1, when he stepped out again with Rinna, this time in a shirt with a peace sign emblazoned on the front.
