I can’t imagine paying $250,000 for anything, let alone blowing that amount in one night… on beverages. But I’m not Jay-Z. I can’t imagine spending 250 grand on beverages, and then adding a 20% gratuity on top of it. But I’m not Jay-Z. At first I was like, “Damn, the wait staff got $50,000!” But when you actually do the math, a 20% gratuity is pretty standard for moderate-to-good service, in my opinion. If I get excellent service, I tip 30% or higher. I guess Jay-Z was just content, not overwhelmed, with the service he got in Miami:
Jay-Z is big pimpin’ and spendin’ his G’s!
The rapper and hip hop mogul partied at a Miami nightclub on Sunday night in celebration of his new album with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, and RadarOnline.com has confirmed he dropped a whopping $250,000 on champagne.
“Jay knew that Mark Cuban spent over $100,000 after the Mavs won the championship a few months ago, and he wasn’t about to be upstaged,” a source close to Jay-Z told RadarOnline.com.
“He bought bottle after bottle of Ace of Spades and then went all out with the 15-liter bottle that cost $100,000 on its own!”
According to a source close to the Liv nightclub in the Fontainebleau Hotel, Beyonce’s 41-year-old husband tipped a generous $50,000 to the waitstaff at the end of the night.
Jay-Z and Kanye’s new album has already garnered criticism for lyrics bragging about their wealth — so do you think spending a quarter million dollars on one night out was a good idea?

On one level, I think “Meh, it’s their money, and this is probably better trickle-down economics than some of the crap rich people blow their money on.” On another level, yeah, it’s kind of offensive. Not really just at Jay, though. I can’t believe that there’s a bottle of champagne that goes for $100,000, and that people order it often enough that the Miami nightclub has it on hand. Like, it’s not a special order. Jay snapped his fingers and a bottle worth $100,000 appeared. What would you do with $100,000? What would you do if you were a waiter and you were tipped 50 grand? The mind boggles.
Also: since there’s no mention of Beyonce, I’m assuming she wasn’t in Miami for this incident. Yet another evening that Jay spent partying with randoms…? Hm.
UPDATE: Page Six has more – Beyonce wasn’t there, neither was Kanye, so it was just Jay and lots of liquored up girls.
